Simply stated, we create smart packaging solutions for
companies large and small. It’s in our DNA.
In 1938 my grandpa found his way from Tennessee to downtown Los Angeles looking for work in the Great Depression. He found his opportunity in other men’s junk. He collected discarded containers, cut them down, built smaller boxes, and sold them. From this simple beginning Watts Container was born.
By the 50s, my father and my uncles were part of the business, making corrugated paper and developing products like foam and insulated packaging that enabled clients like See’s Candy to ship year-round for the first time without having to stop in the summer months due to heat.
I learned my family’s business from sweeping the floors on up – feeding the machines, learning sales and serving our customers, scheduling production, and working as a broker. I worked with designers and started to learn packaging layout and display design and discovered my passion for the challenge of 3-D design. By learning to design myself, I could understand every single step of the process and could then offer all kinds of packaging solutions.
Today Studio TWG has taken another page from my grandpa’s book.
We realized in recent years that by focusing on short-run production we could continue to give our clients the kind of cost-effective service they need and deserve — without having to compete with the really large manufacturing houses that excel at large-quantity production runs, but not design or development. We’re proud to be the highest quality, most responsive, short-run packaging design and production house around.
